The Humboldt County, California department of health and human services has purchased three outdoor needle disposal kiosks to be placed in three locations in Eureka, according to KRCR-TV. The kiosks are under 5 feet high and hold up to 32 gallons.
Dana Murguia, senior program director, said the kiosks are needed to prevent needles from littering the ground.
The kiosks will be installed at the main DHHS building, County Mental Health and the Public Health branch.
Murguia said a contractor has been hired to ensure the kiosks meet ADA regulations.
