ManhattanBeachPatch has reported that the Manhattan Beach, Calif., City Council has given the go-ahead to a pilot bike-rental kiosk program.
A local bicycle shop plans to roll out automated bike-rental kiosks in March, according to the site.
The program, aimed at getting people to use bikes rather than cars for transportation, will position rental stations on easily accessible public property, and the programs' proposed fees are $9.95 for a monthly subscription and $59.95 for a year and perhaps a one-time registration fee.
