WASHINGTON - CAIS Internet Inc., an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that also deploys public Internet kiosks, will ask for shareholder approval to change its corporate name to Ardent Communications Inc.
Recently, the Nasdaq informed CAIS of its intention to delist CAIS's stock (read the story here). CAIS has reserved a new Nasdaq stock symbol (Nasdaq: ARDT), to be announced upon approval of its new name. CAIS has not set a formal date for the next shareholders' meeting. Peter Benedict, a spokesperson for CAIS, said the company is targeting a meeting for mid-July.
According to Michael Lee, president and chief executive officer of CAIS Internet, the new company name would more accurately describe what the company does.
The company also announced the acquisition and transition of about 1,950 PSINet customers to the CAIS network.
