CAIS closed - shareholders approve Ardent as new name

March 20, 2002

WASHINGTON - Shareholders of CAIS Internet Inc. approved the changing of the company's name to Ardent Communications Inc. at their annual meeting.

The company is a national Internet Services Provider (ISP) which also supplies high speed Internet kiosks at a limited number of hotels, airports, retail centers and cruise ships. Last year, it raised $160 million through investments by CII Ventures, 3Com and Microsoft Corp.

Earlier in July, the company's stock was moved from the NASDAQ board to the Over the Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB: CAIS). See story "CAIS off NASDAQ".

In making the announcement, president Michael Lee said in a news release that the new name reflects the company's new direction as a provider of "bundled business communications services to businesses nationwide."

Lee, who joined the firm in March of this year, said in a letter to shareholders that the company will continue to focus on providing ISP services nationally.
