R-kiosk, part of the Norway based Reitan convenience store chain, has introduced an unstaffed R-kiosk Go! at Viikki campus at the University of Helsinki, in Helsinki, Finland, according to a press release.
Customers must download the R-kiosk Go! App and can add products to the shopping cart and pay without scanning the products or transacting at the checkout.
Transactions are made with the help of sensors installed on the ceiling of the kiosk. When a customer selects a product from the shelf, it is automatically added to the app cart. If the customer changes their mind, they can return the purchase to the shelf and the product will automatically leave the shopping cart.
The kiosk has signs and surveillance cameras for security.
In the summer, the company installed two unmanned Pressbyrån Go kiosks in Sweden.
