Burger King's Virtual Fun Center Named Best Interactive Gaming Application Nanonation brings home two awards
LINCOLN, NE - May 5, 2004 - Nanonation, Lincoln-based and an industry leader in customer experience software solutions, is pleased to announce that one of their solutions - the Burger King Kid's Virtual Fun Center® (VFC) kiosk - received first place for the Best Interactive Gaming Application Award for 2004 at the 3rd annual KioskCom interactive kiosk excellence awards competition in Las Vegas. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Beadle Center kiosk took runner up in the Best Public Access Kiosk Application category.
The Burger King project was the result of a collaborative partnership between Nanonation and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's J.D. Edwards Honors Program. With the assistance of seven students from the Design Studio project, Nanonation delivered engaging, Burger King-branded video games with backend software that tracks and measures the usage, effectiveness and profitability of the kiosks. Nanonation's software solution provides Burger King stores with engaging customer experiences that attract and retain families.
"The Burger King Virtual Fun Center kiosk is a great showcase for what true interactive customer experience can, should, and will be. It presents high-entertainment interactivity like no other solution on the market combined with a proven return on their investment," said CEO/President of Nanonation, Bradley Walker.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Beadle Center for Genetics & Biomaterials Research designed and installed an informational kiosk in the shape of an 11-foot tall DNA helix. The "living" interactive sculpture, located in the lobby's three-story atrium, showcases the many programs and accomplishments of the faculty, staff, and students who work and study at the Beadle Center.
UNL and Nanonation saw the opportunity to fuse art and information to better communicate the work being done at the University. The devise has a "Wow-factor" that stops people and encourages them to find out more about the people and programs. The steel structure houses multiple mini-monitors that display a variety of media loops that constantly change the look and feel of the sculpture. A 22-inch touch screen enables users to interact with various information sources, from video clips to Internet resources to maps of the University campus.
Bradley Walker, CEO/president of Nanonation, said the project is an example of Nanonation's approach to collaborating with clients. "Creating dynamic, eye-popping technologies that empower users and provide meaningful ways to interact with customers is a core value at Nanonation," Walker said. "It's exciting when a client allows you to take a concept and turn it into reality. This kiosk will serve as a reminder of the art in science and the power of the imagination."
