LONDON -- British consumers will be able to have movies delivered to their doorsteps, thanks to a partnership between British Telecommunications (BT) and lastminute.com.
BT, which has 1,300 internet kiosks in high streets around the UK and plans to install up to 20,000 over the next five years, will add a DVD rental feature to its kiosks.

After customers touch a DVD rental link on the kiosk screen, they will enter their name, address and credit card details and order their chosen DVDs. Lastminute.com will then mail the DVD to them within 24 hours; customers must return the film using a pre-paid envelope within seven days.
The service will cost £3.75 ($5.90 U.S.) per film, according to a BBC News report.
"This gives you a hassle-free way to see one of the latest films or an old favorite," said Paul Hendron, director of BT Payphones.
The BBC News report did not give a timeline for the project.
