BP moves forward with new kiosk line

July 21, 2002

NEWBURY, England -- With a helping hand from kiosk software developer NetShift Software Ltd. and enclosure manufacturer NCR Corp. (NYSE:NCR), English petroleum company BP is in the midst of expanding its kiosk program at its BP Connect branches throughout the UK.

BP began deploying second-generation kiosks at its BP Connect branches in May. NetShift officials would not comment on how many units would be deployed and when the project would wrap up.

The terminals, which utilize NetShift's public-access network platform running off NCR EasyPoint 45 kiosks, offer pay-per-use Internet access, video and regular e-mail, traffic news, weather, and directions.

BP launched its BP Connect convenience store-gas station concept in December of 2000 and placed 120 kiosks at 75 BP Connect stores in the program's first-generation deployment.
