CBS 4 Boston: The Boston Transit Authority is moving forward with its automated fare collection system and it should be running systemwide by the end of next year. The automated fare collection equipment has already been installed at eight Blue Line stations and will be introduced gradually along the three other subway lines and bus routes. The automated kiosks allow passengers to feed cash, credit or debit cards into the machine and choose the amount they want to put on their fare card, a laminated paper ticket about the size of a driver's license.
