Book explores economics of toy capsule machines

Everything you wanted to know about capsule toy vending machines will soon be available in a book, "The Economics of Gacha Gacha" ("Gacha Gacha no Keizaigaku") by Katsuhiko Onoo, head of the Japan Gacha Gacha Association, according to a report in The Japan News.

Onoo, raised in Japan and a consultant to the toy capsule machine industry, is involved in efforts to revitalize local communities in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, his current residence, using machi-gacha, machines that dispense key chains featuring tourist attractions.

Oona has sold about 30,000 capsules since 2021, working with the city's tourist association.
