BMW, REI, Ahold, Wal-Mart awarded at Retail Systems

CHICAGO --BMWandRecreational Equipment Inc., two retailers with in-store kiosks, were among companies to receive achievement awards this week atRetail Systems 2003.

The awards honor outstanding examples of systems and interactive applications that have resulted in more effective customer service and improved business processes.

The 2003 Retail Systems achievement award winners are:

BMW, for the best in e-commerce integration. The auto retailer has deployed a Web-enabledVirtual Sales Centerwith interactive kiosks. The kiosks display high-quality videos driving simulator, dynamic content and a data-reporting analysis tool.

Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), for best in e-commerce innovation. The award recognizes 66 REI retail stores nationwide and two online stores, fully integrated in-store kiosks and catalogs, along with phone and e-mail customer service.

Wal-Mart Store Inc., for best in corporate systems. The award highlights Wal-Mart's electronic collaboration with suppliers.

Ahold USA Inc.,for best in customer touchpoint systems. The award was presented for the grocery conglomerate's Stop&Shop chain, which uses wireless touchscreen tablet shopping buddies. The solution allows the stores to collect and analyze loyalty-card data.
