Videobusiness.com: Blockbuster hired former Philips executive Kevin Lewis to lead the company's efforts to broaden operations related to its download service, set-top boxes and DVD kiosks. Blockbuster last month started selling a set-top box that plays digital downloads from Blockbuster.com directly on consumers' TV sets, allowing the largest U.S. movie-rental chain to compete directly with Netflix, Amazon.com and Apple in the digital content delivery field. Last year, Blockbuster also reached an agreement with ATM-leader NCR Corp. to make as many as 10,000 Blockbuster-branded DVD kiosks by early next year.
