PARIS - Technology developer SAGEM Group and airport ticketing company IER have signed an agreement to develop a line of airport-security biometric devices, including a self-service check-in kiosk.
IER will market the biometric devices based on technology developed by SAGEM, the companies announced on Oct. 18. The program will feature IER printers, readers, and self-service kiosks. SAGEM's fingerprint recognition technology will be installed in the machines.
"Fingerprint technology from SAGEM is world renowned," Jean-Jacques Rochat, IER chairman, said in a news release. "It is trusted by many countries around the world and I have no doubt that it will be the same for this new range of products."
Based in Paris, SAGEM is an international high-technology group focusing on the communications, defense, and automotive industries. IER is part of the French-based services and industrial activities firm Bollore Group.
