Biometric-enabled kiosks to expedite passenger check-in at Mexican airports

April 6, 2018

Mexico's three busiest airports have begun installing the first digital biometric check-in kiosks in the country, according to Mexico News Today. The machines can read documents, as well.

Flora Patricia Martínez, representative of the Ministry of the Interior, said that 100 biometric check-in kiosks will streamline the reception of 48,000 passengers daily at airports in Mexico City, Cancun and Los Cabos.

Passengers using the kiosks can check in in less than two-and-a-half minutes, officials said. Additionally, the kiosks will cut the time needed to process immigration procedures in half. Instructions for use are available in seven languages, and the kiosks are accessible for people with disabilities.
