Bill acceptor accommodates 1,200-plus bills

August 26, 2004

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - MEI, a developer of electronic payment systems, has launched a bill acceptor for high-volume retail applications. The CASHFLOW SCL83, a variation of the recently introduced CASHFLOW SC83, features a longer, durable cashbox that can accommodate as many as 1,200 bills.

According to a press release, the SCL83's built-in, lockable, high-capacity cashbox enables more transactions between cash collection, making it suitable for high-volume retail applications such as self-checkouts and electronic cash safes.

Like MEI's CASHFLOW SC83, the CASHFLOW SCL83 can accept the majority of the world's currency and can be deployed in markets worldwide. It accepts bills from 62-83 mm in width and 120-166 mm in length. The product is constructed of a durable, high impact plastic in a curved, welded design that protects internal mechanisms against harsh handling.

The new cashbox features a window that shows the value of the last note stacked in the cashbox. Customers can view the actual bill last fed, getting solid proof of their transaction, and resolving disputes quickly.

The MEI CASHFLOW SCL83 becomes commercially available this month.

"With its proven reliability and high bill capacity, the MEI CASHFLOW SCL83 cuts cycle times and allows retailers to dedicate more of their resources on the true backbone of their businesses: customer service," said Andrew Osborne, global marketing manager for MEI's retail division.
