Pittsburgh residents and visitors can now utilize bike-rental kiosks for work and pleasure, according to a report by the Post Gazette. These kiosks, developed by nonprofit Pittsburgh Bike Share allow users to register and pay for a bike rental with a debit or credit card.
User reaction was largely positive, according to the report. A group of about 50 renters joined a mass ride down Market Square, according to Pittsburg Bike Share Director of Marketing Erin Potts.
Currently, Pittsburgh Bike Share has eight kiosk stations for rentals, with plans to expand to 50 kiosks with 500 bicycles. During initial rentals on May 31, a few glitches prevented payment processing, according to the report. Potts said the company is currently working on this issue.
