The Biden administration released a plan Monday to speed the deployment of electric vehicle charging stations despite not getting the full amount of funds the president sought in his infrastructure bill, according to an NBC News report.
The president's $15 billion plan for EV charging stations was cut in half in the bipartisan infrastructure law. The administration has nonetheless stuck with a goal of 500,000 stations.
Out of the $7.5 billion the government has to work with, $5 billion will go to states, the District of Columbia and territories to install charging stations. The remaining $2.5 billion will be distributed through competitive grants with a focus on rural areas and the disadvantaged.
