The Biden administration announced that it plans to award nearly $5 billion over five years to states to develop electric vehicle charging stations, according to a Yahoo Finance report.
Congress approved the funding as part of a $1 trillion infrastructure bill in November.
The administration will provide $615 million in 2022 to states which are required to submit plans and secure federal approval.
By 2030, the administration wants 500,000 new EV charging stations and half of all new vehicles sold to be electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
