The LF Wade International Airport in Bermuda has installed kiosks from Global Entry, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program. The program is designed to allow low-risk travelers to get quicker clearance into the U.S., according to a report by The Royal Gazette.
Travelers, who have been preapproved by Global Entry, can use the kiosks to finish their admission to the U.S. in one minute. They simply have to scan their passport and fingerprints and then answer a few questions to gain entry.
"U.S. Customs and Border Protection is pleased to expand the Global Entry program to Bermuda preclearance, from where more than 280,000 people traveled to the U.S. last year," Paula Long, Bermuda preclearance port director said in the report. "Global Entry allows our officers to focus their efforts on unknown and potentially higher risk air travelers, while at the same time efficiently and securely facilitating low-risk travelers."
The United States has entrusted Bermuda as one of its preclearance airports for over 40 years, enabling US-bound travelers to enjoy an easy and hassle-free arrival experience at any number of its major gateway airports, said Senator Michael Fahy, minister of tourism and transport, Bermuda.
"With the introduction of Global Entry, that experience can now only get better."
