The Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados is now home to 48 self-serve kiosks that let arriving passengers scan passports and have their identity confirmed by facial recognition, according to a biometricupdate.com report.
The airport first introduced 16 of the BorderXpress kiosks from Innovative Travel Solutions, a unit of Vancouver International Airport, in August, 2018 on a test basis.
BorderXpress kiosks were also tested in other airports. In June, four kiosks were installed at Keflavik International Aiport in Iceland, while 74 were installed in July at Pafos International Airport and Larnaka International Airport in Cyprus.
A total of 43 airports and cruise ships use the kiosks, and 1,600 have been sold since 2009.
