ATLANTA -- Retail execs attending the National Retail Federation's Convention and Expo in New York, Jan. 11-14, will have a chance to interact with a touchscreen system from NCR Corp. that delivers targeted promotions virtually anywhere in the store.
The NCR Copient solution was recognized recently with a GEM Award presented at the 2003 Global Electronic Marketing Conference. According to Retail Systems Consulting, which founded and hosts GEMCON, the NCR Copient solution was selected in the vendor category for its end-to-end solution that provides development, delivery and tracking of interactive direct-marketing sales promotions.
The GEM Award program is sponsored by global management consulting company Accenture.
"What makes the NCR Copient solution intriguing is that it extends a store's targeted marketing capabilities into the aisles, where customers actually make their purchasing decisions, as well as at the point of entry, point of sale (POS) or other locations," said Michael Gorshe, executive director of retail and consumer packaged goods for Accenture, in a news release.
The NCR Copient solution, which includes hardware and software, is designed to work with retailers' existing store-automation POS systems. The system obtains the member number from the sales application and monitors transaction data to determine awards. Rewards are returned to the sales application as electronic discounts, which are then communicated via normal application resources such as printers.
