BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Corporate networking solutions company Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV) has unveiled a new Internet protocol telephone that the company is marketing as a kiosk solution for hotels, airlines, and financial institutions.
The Avaya 4630 IP Screenphone allows customers access to the Internet and telephone services through a touch screen. The system also includes a speaker phone, headset jack and message waiting indicator. Six phone-related functions are available on the system, including speed dialing, a caller log and voice messaging.
Avaya officials envision the phone being used as a service kiosk at financial institutions, with information available on services, market data, and directory information. In addition, it can be used by airlines in frequent flyer lounges to offer flight information and in hotels for room service and concierge functions.
