Australian airports install biometric ID kiosks

Idemia, a France-based provider of security services using biometric technology, has installed its self-serve passenger identification kiosk at eight Australia airports, according to a press release.

After testing by the Australian department of home affairs, the Gen3 kiosk was installed at Darwin, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Coolangatta, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney airports.

Travelers complete an initial verification at the kiosk matching their face with their passport.
