This year, new US Department of Transport regulations will require increased services for travelers with sensory or mobility impairments. To answer this need, Storm Interface worked with NCR Corp. to develop a new Audio-Nav keypad for kiosks and other ticketing machines, according to a press release.

The system is designed to detect a headset connection and then describe the information on a kiosk screen or touchscreen. It also has a keypad designed to help people with vision impairment or no vision to operate the kiosk. It is also useful for the illiterate, since some agencies consider illiteracy to be the most common disability in the world, according to the release.

The Audio-Nav keybad uses illumination and tactile identifiers to help users with low vision. It also comes with a sound processor and headset connection to ensure a clear audio connection, according to the release.
