BOSTON -- National restaurant chain Au Bon Pain doesn't offer the average fast-food fare. It pairs goat cheese with European breads, and has unique wrap sandwiches. But consumers will never be confused about what they are eating because of nutrition kiosks with touchscreens now installed at 130 cafes in the Northeast and Midwestern states.
According to a report in The Boston Globe, the kiosks allow customers to access ingredient lists and nutrition information for almost every item on Au Bon Pain's menu.
The nutrition kiosk gives detailed information on every possible sandwich filling, salad dressing and bread available at the chain. This information can help customers make their purchasing decisions.
If a customer has a hankering for the 800-calorie chicken tarragon sandwich, for instance, he or she might consider having it on lavash bread, which has 250 calories and no fat, as opposed to focaccia, which has 720 calories, the report said.
