Weed Army Community Hospital in Fort Irwin, California has introduced a ScriptCenter kiosk locker system inside the main entrance, allowing military personnel to pick up prescription refills during regular hospital hours, including hours when the pharmacy is closed, according to a Defense Media Activity report.

Maj. Lucas Poon, the chief of pharmacy for Weed ACH, said the kiosk will benefit those who need to pick up medications outside of normal pharmacy hours.

Beneficiaries first enroll by creating a user name and personal identification number at the kiosk. They can choose to add their military identification card and fingerprint for additional login options.

After adding their prescription numbers to their profile, they can then order refills by calling a phone number, selecting the "ScriptCenter Kiosk" and pick up refills at the kiosk after two duty days.

Controlled substances and prescriptions requiring refrigeration still must be picked up at the pharmacy.
