Arizona kiosks administer hearing tests

June 7, 2016

Fynes Audiology is planning to display its Hearing Touch Machine kiosk at various health and wellness fairs throughout Mesa and Phoenix, Arizona. The kiosk was created to allow users to test themselves for hearing loss at an early stage, according to a press release.

To administer the self-test, users don headphones and listen to test tones, following the instructions displayed to complete the test. The kiosk displays results of the completed test and allows the user to request a personal copy or set up a consultation at Fynes Audiology.

Nearly 50 million people in the U.S. have some form of hearing loss — even if they don't relalize it.

"Many people who have hearing loss are not aware of it, do not accept the fact of it, or are unwilling to discuss their hearing loss," according to a statement from the National Register of Health Services Psychologists.

"The Hearing Touch Machine is a remarkable device," said Dr. Cassandra Fynes, owner of Fynes Audiology. "It's highly accurate, but it's also portable enough to take pretty much anywhere, whether to a church function or a lunch-and-learn. People take the test out of curiosity, and some of them who thought they had perfect hearing find out that they were wrong. Then they come in for a screening and discover that there are discreet, advanced hearing solutions for mild-to-moderate hearing loss that can dramatically improve their lives. It all starts with a little self-test."
