Arizona Credit unions poised for kiosks

March 31, 2002

PHOENIX - New software licensed by the Arizona Credit Union League will allow credit union customers to do their banking online and at kiosks, the Business Journal of Phoenix reported.

The league is rolling out the program, which it calls "CU Amigo," to the 69 credit unions in the state. CU Amigo makes it possible for participating credit unions to place kiosks in malls and other highly trafficked areas.

Using the kiosks, members will be able to make cash deposits, cash checks, and fill out loan applications.

The new system can counter consumer impression that credit unions don't have enough branches, said Todd Pearson, vice president of ACUL Services Inc., the Journal reported.

According to Pearson, the new system costs about 75 percent less than current ones. CU Amigo is fully Internet-enabled, allowing customers to use it from home, said Pearson.
