Apunix wins Technology Innovation Award

November 12, 2004

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Apunix Computer Services, an early adopter of kiosks based on the Java platform, has been awarded Frost & Sullivan's 2002 Technology Innovation Award.

The award recognizes Apunix's ability to successfully develop and introduce new technology, produce a well-designed product and make significant product performance contributions to the industry, according to a news release.

Apunix kiosks, which run on Linux and Solaris operating systems, have earned the reputation of rarely requiring a reboot, according to Frost & Sullivan, an international marketing research firm.

The Apunix kiosk consists of an appliance server that works as a database server, kiosk server, Web server and gateway. The company rolled out 160 kiosks to the Travel Centers of America more than two years ago. Other deployments include SuperBowl San Diego 1998, Alamo-Rent-A-Car, New Line Cinema, McLaren Formula One Races and the Riviera Hotel and Casino.

Frost & Sullivan considers product launches, customer acceptance, penetration rates and time to market in its evaluations.
