Android kiosk software enables remote installation

June 29, 2016

KioWare has launched Version 3.9 of KioWare for Android. The software has added new Samsung features to allow the user to more easily install remote applications, disable the power button and more, according to a press release.

Samsung-specific upgrades to the support app allow the user to:

  • hide the navigation bar and disable the power options;
  • control use of USB and SD card access and disable the physical power button;
  • keep users from changing the kiosk's volume; and
  • prevent users from accessing the home icon or menu.

KioWare for Android comes in three different versions — Full, Lite and Basic. Full users can take advantage of mobile device management tools such as rebooting the device or installing updates remotely. These two features are only available to Samsung KNOX 5.1 users.

Non-Samsung users can take advantage of other new features, depending on the version. For example, KioWare Lite for Android users can set an attract screen URL and KioWare Basic users can add EMV payment processing through CardEaseMobile.

All KioWare products are available as a free trial with a nag screen. Users of older versions of KioWare for Android need current support to upgrade.
