American Airlines installs check-in kiosk in hotel

March 4, 2004

FORT WORTH, Texas and CHICAGO -- American Airlines and the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport have installed an American Airlines Self-Service Check-In machine in the hotel lobby -- the first deployment of such a machine outside an American Airlines airport terminal or ticket counter location for public use.

The self-service machine is one of more than 700 Self-Service Check-In machines American has made available to its customers with domestic e-tickets to check-in, print boarding passes, change seats and even purchase upgrades, according to a news release.

American selected the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport to launch its first Self-Service Check-In machine located outside an airport environment because of the hotel's high volume of American Airlines passenger guests.

"Installing the first off-airport Self-Service Check-In machine at Hilton's Chicago O'Hare hotel marks another milestone in our commitment to provide our customers with added convenience to make travel easy," said Maya Leibman, managing director of Airport Automation at American. "This Hilton deployment allows us to best determine where to install our off-airport customer technology in the future."
