Alviere, a company specializing in embedded finance platforms, has released self-service kiosks that allow customers to make cross-border money transfers without needing assistance from store staff. The kiosks are designed for high-traffic retail locations like grocery stores and travel hubs, according to a press release.

The automated system allows customers to send funds to over 100 countries using cash, debit cards or bank transfers. According to the company, most transactions are completed within minutes. Alviere states the kiosks are a way for businesses to serve the unbanked and underbanked population, a group that often relies on cash for financial transactions.

"These kiosks provide a secure, staff-free way to serve the unbanked and underbanked, and unlock an additional revenue stream for retailers," Pedro Silva, CEO at Alviere, said in the release.

The kiosks handle compliance measures like KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and include real-time fraud monitoring. The company says the system helps retailers attract customers and generate revenue from transaction fees. Global remittances exceeded $905 billion in 2024, with the United States as the largest sender market.
