A senior living facility in Alberta, Canada is now home to a Genie kiosk that features easy-to-use software to help residents keep in touch with loved ones, according to a Saddle Hills County news report.

The Genie software is a messaging platform that allows seniors in long-term care to independently interact and connect with family and friends. The software consists of three components: Genie kiosk, Ambient website and a mobile app.

The kiosk is equipped with large, colorful buttons with easy-to-read text. Each resident receives a large, colorful key that they can use to access the machine at any time to received voice messages, videos, texts and pictures from loved ones.

A Saddle Hills County representative told the news outlet they are "proud to be able to support local residents in long-term care through the implementation of this software, and [are] grateful for the hard work of carers, volunteers and staff, who make things like this possible. We are excited to see what the future holds for the residents and care team and thank them for including us in this special event."
