Alaska Airlines to replace check-in kiosks with mobile check-in

Alaska Airlines plans to phase out self-check-in kiosks and introduce mobile check-in, according to a USA Today report. The airline will also offer an iPad bag tag station and an automated bag drop.

Customers who don't use smartphones will check in using the website and tag their own bags but will also have the option of a full-service check-in agent.

The company announced plans to make some of these changes at Portland International Airport last week.

The overhaul is expected to be completed at all airports by early 2024.

Self-service bag drops are already available at eight airports.
