SEATTLE - Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK), one of the first airlines to introduce self-service check-in kiosks, established a company record in 2001 with more than 5 million flyers using the service.
According to Alaska Airlines, more than 45 percent of eligible travelers used the service during 2001, with the percentage reaching 70 percent in Anchorage, Alaska.
"Our continual increase in kiosk check-ins show that customers are embracing this technology and recognize the convenience it provides," Ed White, Alaska Airlines vice president of ground operations, said in a news release.
The airline offers nearly 400 self-service kiosks at 70 locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Alaska Airlines began offering self-service check-in machines in 1996.
