Germany-based information technology company Materna has established an office in Florida to expand its airport self-service solutions to the U.S. market, according to a press release. The company is transferring its check-in, self-tagging, self-bag drop and payment solutions to the U.S. market.

"We look forward to entering the U.S. market with our high-value aviation solutions," Materna CEO Helmut Binder said in the release. "Based on our order to install a large amount of check-in kiosks at the large regional airport in California we have already set a strong basis for our future development in the U.S. market."

Materna's solution is designed to allow travelers to deposit their luggage at any time throughout the day. This solution can be deployed either as an automated kiosk or as a staff solution. If the customer exceeds the baggage weight, the system will calculate the excess baggage charge to paid on site.
