ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The third International Aviation Security Technology Symposium opens on Nov. 27 in Atlantic City, N.J., with at least one Internet technology company preaching a message of unity in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
SITA, a global airport security and services provider based out of Hayes, England, will unveil an airport security solution that integrates government authorities and airlines. The system includes a line of check-in kiosks - known as AirportConnect - that feature biometric capability for passenger identification. Other features include electronic baggage identification, an immigration processing system, and a portfolio of managed security solutions.
SITA executives said that it was crucial for government agencies and the private sector to work together on airport security, pointing to the company's new system as a way of making that possible.
"It is vital that all parts of air transport continue to effectively collaborate in areas of mutual benefit for the whole community," John Watson, SITA director general, said in a news release.
SITA senior manager John Webb will conduct a seminar at the seminar on Nov. 28, starting at 4 p.m., Eastern time. The focus will be on airport security solutions.
