Airlines: More kiosks, mobile and online apps in future

Silicon.com: SITA, an air transport IT services company found that, on average, 21 percent of passengers use online check-in, and that average is expected to increase to 35 percent by the end of 2008. Passengers also are turning to self-service to avoid queues, with 37 percent of plane travelers expected to use kiosks during 2007, with the average predicted to hit 49 percent next year. E-ticketing also is becoming the norm, with 86 percent of all tickets issued expected to be electronic by the end of 2008.
