Klia2, the new low-cost carrier terminal at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, opened on May 2, with more self-service options for passengers than the airport's existing low-cost carrier terminal.
AirAsia, due to move into Klia2 on May 9, will offer passengers what is claimed to be the most comprehensive self-service offer ever seen in an Asian airport, reports Future Travel Experience.
AirAsia passengers will be able to check-in using self-service kiosks and tag their own bags. In the second half of 2014, self-service bag-drop units will be introduced too, according to Future Travel Experience.
Steven Dickson, AirAsia's group head, ground and inflight operations, told Future Travel Experience that he would like to see upwards of 95 percent of the low-cost carrier's customers using the self-service facilities eventually.
