AI-powered robotic smoothie kiosk debuts on college campus

March 27, 2019

A robotic smoothie machine powered by artificial intelligence has been installed on a test basis at the University of San Francisco campus, according to abc7news.com

Vipin Jain, creator of the machine, called Chef B, said there are eight veggie and fruit concoctions that include ingredients such as kefir and chia. The machine can blend 35 to 45 smoothies per hour.

Chef B has a robotic arm that dispenses ingredients, pours smoothies into cups and pushes the cups to a window for pick-up. Customers place orders at the machine or using an app and can pick the smoothie up at a scheduled time.

Jain's company, Blendid, has hired five university students to educate customers and help place orders.
