Franklin, New Hampshire-based self-service kiosk manufacturer Advanced Kiosks announced the latest addition to its hardware product line, the Countertop Kiosk.
The Countertop model contains an adjustable monitor face, camera, microphone, stereo speakers and four USB ports. Designed to function in locations with limited floor space, its compact structure can cater to those with limited mobility and with added peripherals, collect vital signs in health care settings.
With the addition of credit card and barcode readers, it can operate in a retail setting and work with supporting software to scan QR codes on smartphones. Its monitor includes a 19-inch multi-touch touchscreen adjustable to horizontal or vertical settings with the ability to lean forward or backward up to 45 degrees. Multi-touch features allow users to pinch and drag content to zoom in and out, similar to mobile devices.
"Our newest model provides a secure, durable, clean-looking alternative to folks currently using touchscreen computers to interact with their public," said Advanced Kiosks project manager Nathan Morse in a company announcement. "Unlike a tablet, the Countertop Kiosk isn't just going to 'walk away' when no one is looking. And adding peripherals to a touchscreen computer results in a tangled-cord eyesore. Adding peripherals to our kiosks is always a breeze; it never ruins the aesthetics of the unit."
