ADUSA Inc., a kiosk software manufacturer based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, has decided to discontinue operations at the end of this month, according to Juan Perez, president and CEO.

After its founding in 1995, the company conducted pilot tests with supermarket chains such as Giant Eagle, H.E. Butt, Kroger, Publix and Safeway. The company's kiosks and integrated queue management systems operated in as many as 800 U.S. supermarkets.

The company employed as many as 60 people between 2000 and 2006, but pared down to five as it narrowed its focus and moved its software to SaaS, Perez said. In recent years, the company began targeting foodservice operations, a market that it found highly competitive.

The company, which is owned by a private individual, is looking to sell its entire portfolio, Perez said.
