Acnodes releases new fanless embedded computer

The FES8680 contains a Mini-ITX motherboard that utilizes the fourth-generation Haswell processor, according to the company, and is designed to consume very little power.

Acnodes Corp., a manufacturer of industrial and embedded computer platforms and technologies, has announced the launch of a new fanless embedded computer, the FES8680. The FES8680 contains a Mini-ITX motherboard that utilizes the fourth-generation Haswell processor, according to the company, and is designed to consume very little power. It features a fanless design, creating a solid-state solution with no moving parts, intended to be deal for outdoor advertising, POS/kiosk, transportation and industrial control automation, the company said.

The FES8680 is enclosed in an aluminum chassis and is tested for deployment in temperatures from 32°F to 104°F. The FES8680 has full-feature I/Os including four serial ports, two Gigabit LAN ports, four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, audio, as well as VGA and DVI-I out video interfaces. It has two DDR3 1600MHz SODIMM memory maximum up to 16GB, one mSATA/mini PCI Express shared slot, and one 2.5 in. SATA HDD for solid-state storage. The FES8680 features an optional half-size PCI Express Mini card slots for additional wireless connectivity.

Measuring 2.3 inches tall, the FES8680 includes DIN rail kit and wall-mounting brackets for easy installation on any locations where space is critical. FES8680 has a built-in Watchdog Timer to reset the system after a crash or system error. The system supports wide voltage power input from 9 to 24V DC to meet the requirements of unstable electricity environments. The FES8680 is fully compatible with 32/64 bit versions of Window 7/8 and Linux.
