AccessVia releases dSIGN 3.5

March 24, 2002

CHICAGO - AccessVia's dSIGN 3.5 is the latest release of the company's retail sign printing system, the company announced recently at the Retail Systems 2001 conference in Chicago.

The new version introduces new features for the Designer component of dSIGN. Designer is the authoring tool for creating sign printing templates, kiosk and mobile commerce applications, item presentations for e-commerce sites, and other automated consumer messaging environments, according to the news release.

Retailers can print attractive price and product information signs using many kinds of merchandising media, including print, kiosks, e-commerce, e-mail and wireless. The applications, which range from sign printing programs to automated mobile messaging, use data from inventory and point-of-sale databases, so the information that customers see is always accurate and consistent across channels, the release stated.

This release of dSIGN makes it easier to create templates with interface features, which can lower buyers' training costs by helping users to master the product more readily.

Other new features in Designer are for expert users of the software. The features allow users to build fewer, more flexible templates that leverage development efforts. The application has been enhanced to make use of enterprise business rules that execute at run-time. Improved data access components add scalability and stability to applications.

The benefits of the new dSIGN 3.5 release extend beyond the enhanced Designer functionality. It includes improved applications for managing sign printing in stores and at headquarters. Two versions of the In-store SignShop application deliver sign printing and management at the store level. The Headquarters SignShop provides the ability to manage the enterprise sign printing system and interact with the In-store SignShop applications by delivering data for the signs and batches of signs to print.

Seattle-based AccessVia's customers include Target Corporation; Walgreens; Publix; Bed, Bath & Beyond; and Petco. In addition to dSIGN, the company sells Web dSignShop, which prints signs through a Web browser interface, AccessVia Kiosk, which integrates customer service kiosks with corporate and in-store technology systems such as POS and inventory,  AccessVia E-Commerce, which lets retailers publish product catalogs on the Web regardless of the type of database used, AccessVia M-Commerce, which can send reminders, publish a catalog, enable product locators, and offer wireless ordering and pick-up for mobile devices, and AccessVia E-Mail, which can publish product catalogs or product information over e-mail.
