3M, Zytronic enter touchscreen distribution agreement

METHUEN, Mass. -- 3M Touch Systems Inc. has entered an agreement to distribute a private-label version of Zytronic PLC touchscreens worldwide.

The deal expands 3M's product portfolio, which includes a variety of touchscreen technologies, touch monitors and industrial touch products, according to a company news release.

Zytronic's range of touchscreens is based on projected capacitive touch technology that enables the device to sense a gloved or ungloved touch through a protective glass material. Zytronic's touchscreens -- used in kiosks, ATMs and ticketing machines -- include damage-resistant features for outdoor environments, according to the release. Zytronic is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.
