3M to showcase 20-finger multi-touch technology at SID show

3M will demonstrate at the Society for Information Display's Display Week, May 32 – June 5 in Seattle, its latest advances in multi-touch touchscreen technology. The company's Projective Capacitive Technology (PCT) allows a number of advanced functions on touchscreens, including recognition of 20 simultaneous touches at a 6 millisecond response time, palm accommodation that allows users to rest their hands on the screen and 3,358 touch points on a 22-inch display.   "The industry's response to 3M PCT's advanced multi-touch capabilities has been nothing short of astounding," said Chris Colbert, general manager, 3M Touch Systems, in a press release. "Touch experts who experience this technology are captivated by its responsiveness and industry-changing potential."
