AVT Inc. recently announced that the company's new Flix on Stix kiosks, developed to securely deliver digital entertainment content, will begin rolling out to more than 20,000 locations within the next 90 days.
Flix on Stix has developed a new encryption technology and interface that allows consumers to download movies, music and television programs from the AVT-designed self-service kiosk directly to a portable memory stick.
In addition to offering an almost limitless array of titles, AVT says, this system also provides first-run movies before they are available on DVD or Blu-ray, or through Internet subscription services.
The Flix on Stix kiosk uses a secure Internet connection and proprietary download encryption technology to transfer content onto any portable flash drive in a matter of seconds. The digital content can be viewed on any PC or Mac, or through a set-top box to a television, AVT says.
