1stKIOSK launches Mac-based software platform

March 11, 2002

VALENCIA, Calif. - Kiosk development company 1stKIOSK has introduced a new software platform designed for a wide range of kiosk projects. The new platform, k-BUILDER, debuted at the KioskCom 2002 trade show and conference in Orlando, Fla.

The platform, which is designed for MacOS X, is compliant with QuickTime, ColorSync, and TrueType, and uses AppleScript as its scripting language, making the platform easily accessible to other scriptable applications. k-BUILDER also includes management tools for network and remote management, supports up to 15 languages per project, and includes vocal capabilities for text screens, making it compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

1stKIOSK officials said the software platform works with directory systems, registries, retail displays, and coupon-dispensing machines.

"This is software for creatives and marketing people who don't want to learn how to be programmers," Mitch Krayton, 1stKIOSK president, said in a news release.

The platform is currently available directly through 1stKIOSK for custom projects. The program will be released to the general public later this year, according to the company.
