More than 1,000 Ohio businesses have applied to operate sports betting kiosks which will be available in restaurants, bars and bowling alleys come January, according to a cleveland.com report.
Applications must be submitted to the Ohio Casino Control Commission by Aug. 15.
Businesses must be an existing licensed lottery retailer and have a D-1, D-2 or D-5 liquor permit and must be a for-profit organization.
Under the state's law that legalized sports betting, people can place bets using kiosks, mobile apps and physical sportsbooks.
The licenses will come from the Ohio Casino Control Commission for businesses recommended by the Ohio Lottery Commission.
