Recently, KioskMarketplace.com reported on six features of the state-of-the-art kiosk printer. As a follow-up to that article, we took a look at the features most requested by our customers. Their top priorities lie in the areas of price, reliability and integration. Kiosk printers that can achieve those goals in an innovative way provide retailers with a product that meets the ever-changing needs of their customers.
Reliability: In a retail environment, customer experience is key. It is imperative that kiosk printers provide retailers with a proven system that works consistently. By providing a kiosk printer that has limited to no down-time, retailers give customers a consistent in-store experience. For example, receipt printers should feature a looping presenter and integrated cutter to help prevent paper jams by not allowing the user to access paper before it is done printing and is cut. Another element that state-of-the-art kiosk printers employ is a remote access feature. By accessing and monitoring the printers from a central command center, retailers can better determine when support and maintenance is needed.
Price: In the retail industry, pricing is extremely important to keeping a business running strong. This makes having a kiosk printer that is affordable, as well as reliable, critical to customers. For example, a printer that employs host-based printing technology, which streamlines the printer by drawing upon the kiosk PC's resources, offers a highly cost-effective choice to retailers. Reliability also decreases the total cost of ownership by reducing upkeep and downtime.
Integration: The ability for a printer to integrate into existing kiosk designs is also very important. Features, such as a compact footprint, a variable range of mounting configurations, and an easy to implement programming language.
